Who is Jason Kleeberg?
A designer.
Currently I’m a Manager of Learning Design at Best Buy. In addition to leading three designers who report to me, I lead the Safety & Compliance work group, which contains some of the most high visibility projects in the company. While designing, I work quickly and I produce quality material. I have adult learning theory in mind while I ideate and I use current trends (microlearning, mobile first, etc.) to guide my design decisions.
Here are some of the projects that I’m the most proud of:
Phishing 2022.
Currently sits at a rating of 4.88/5 with 4705 reviews and over 120 pages of comments. Highlights include, “Best training I’ve ever done.” and “Quite refreshing, now this is the way to do elearnings.”
VIP 2020.
Currently sits at a rating of 4.86/5 with 3111 reviews and 72 pages of comments. My favorite comment was, “Love the dedication and fun the development team for these modules seems to have. makes it easier to pay attention and absorb info. also more motivating.”
Geek Squad Property Protection.
I took a risk here (having never used Storyline at the time) to build the first true branching ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ learning with full video and my own recorded sound effects.
Pacific Sales Training Materials.
During my time as the Pacific Sales trainer, I built (and facilitated) all of the Pacific Sales training materials and helped Best Buy Canada build their training strategy for the category.
Proficiencies include: A knowledge of adult learning theory, video (Final Cut Pro X), podcasts, written courses, job aids, infographics, and both in-person and virtual facilitation.

A leader.
In addition to becoming a peer leader due to my poise, quality of work, and the trust I’ve built amongst my teammates, I’ve also held numerous leadership positions throughout my 20 year Best Buy career. My leadership style can be summed up in one phrase: Leaders eat last.
I lead by example, bringing others along for the journey. I strive to create advocates. I am experienced in coaching and counseling, and have taught coaching programs to leaders at Best Buy for years.
Accomplishments.
Over the years, I feel like I have done a lot with Best Buy. Here are some of the things I’m most proud of that I’ve worked on recently.
Workday.
I was the lead designer for training materials leading up to our launch of Workday, an HR program that affected everyone in the company. This included a video series, interactive eLearnings, job aids, and some quick follow up videos once the program launched.
Onboarding.
I was the lead designer for our revamped onboarding process. This included videos and creating interactive PDF guides for both employees and leaders. The guide template was then used across the enterprise and modified for different positions.
Achievers.
Each year, top performing employees are invited to an Achievers event, celebrating the top performers in the company. I have been to seven different Achievers events.

A director.
Using programs like Vyond, Final Cut Pro X, and Apple Motion, I’m considered one of the top video producers in my company.
In addition to my work within the Enterprise Learning Organization, I’ve also produced videos for personal endeavors, with one video about the film American Sniper earning over a million views on YouTube (and being talked about on morning news shows) and earned a Telly Award for a TV pilot I wrote and starred in called Clarks (2005).

A writer.
One of my biggest assets is my creative writing ability. I am able to craft concise narratives that both teach and entertain.
In addition to my written work at Best Buy, I have written 5 full-length screenplays (2 of which have been on the BLCKLST, an industry screenplay marketplace).
I also continue to publish movie reviews on my personal website to practice and refine my skills, which has close to 10,000 RSS subscribers (if you need a movie recommendation, look no further!).
A podcaster.
While I’m lauded for my video skills, I’m also a seasoned podcaster. Most recently, I published a podcast for Best Buy around dealing with third party labor, which you can find below.
In addition to my work, I run the Force Five Podcast, a successful movie podcast centered around movie related top-5 lists. According to ListenNotes.com, the show is in the top 2.5% of all podcasts on Earth, a feat that I accomplished in just over a year by using grassroots marketing while spending $0 on advertising.
I produce, edit, market, and host the show.

A husband and a father.
I’m also a husband (married 11 years) and a father of a 4 year old. Raising a child has allowed me to practice leadership every single day, while being married has definitely taught me to provide clarity in communication and how to influence without authority (please don’t tell my wife I said that).
